Case Studies

We are begining to build a library of case studies from within the service as to how the e-KSF has been successfully implemented and what benefits organisations are now achieving. Below are some that have been kindly submitted from within the service to date:

NEW! North East Ambulance Service. NEAS have clearly linked e-KSF to Service Improvement, and have supported the e-KSF rollout with resources, clear leadership, and a focused project team. All appraisals are now completed on e-KSF, and staff report that they have clearer development and career progression opportunities.

NEW! Northumbria Healthcare are using e-KSF to support the KSF review process for 6500 staff across 10 sites. The Trust started wtih pilots in Computer Services, then Corporate Units and through to Clinical Units. A two-year project plan started in 2008 will result in all appraisals being managed using e-KSF from January 2010.

 NHS Blood and Transplant - This case study shares the experience of using technology to support technology by using Citrix GoToMeeting to reduce the cost of training and improve the service and support for staff implementing the e-KSF at NHS Blood and Transplant

Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust - This case study shares the experience of using the e-KSF tool to support, deliver, monitor and coordinate the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) process across the organisation. The trust has learnt many lessons in implementing e-KSF and has shared their top tips for the benefit of others who are about to or are in the process of implementing e-KSF across their organisation.

Kent and Medway Health Informatics Service - This case study shares the experiences of implementing e-KSF within a single directorate as a pilot - the likes, and the dislikes, along with the benefits that will lead to their wider implementation of the e-KSF.

Middlesborough PCT - This case study shows how Middlesborough PCT have approached the implementation of e-KSF within the orgasnisation and highlights some of their measures of success.

How e-KSF Can Motivate Staff to Increase ICT Skills - This is a short example of e-KSF has motivated a member of staff to increase their ICT skills and the importance of aligning the organisations ICT training strategy with e-KSF training .
