Commissioning a Patient Led NHS (CPLNHS)
You may well have heard about, or been affected by, the organisational changes driven by CPLNHS. Of course, these changes are much more far-reaching than just the e-KSF project, but they do have some implications for our system too. Fortunately, we built e-KSF to be flexible, so the system can cope with joining up organisations during things like PCT reconfiguration. This means that individual’s use of e-KSF shouldn’t be affected during this process. In fact, the KSF becomes particularly valuable to individuals during times of change, as it allows them to demonstrate the contribution of their knowledge and skills, and provides consistency of personal development.
So, the headline here is that CPLNHS is not a reason to stop using e-KSF - whatever the change, the NHS will still be full of individuals sitting down to discuss their development, and recording this on e-KSF. There are some things to consider where organisations join together though: -
- When do you want to combine organisation's data on e-KSF? (note that you don't necessarily have to do this at the same time as the "real world" changes). When all parts of the new organisation agree, you can ask our support team to do this combination for you
- Do you have two (or more) post outlines for the same role? How are you going to consolidate these? Again, the real-world process for deciding which to select (or using the change as an opportunity to create new outlines) is the clever bit which you need to do - you can then send our support team a list of outlines to remove, and we can do this for you.
What would you like to do with departmental structures, staff group lists, PDP budget codes and organisational objectives? You may find that you need to merge these or select just one, as you can only have one version of each of these things for each e-KSF organisation. Again, these are more "real world" challenges than e-KSF ones, so once you've decided what you want to do, just let our support desk know and they can help you with the changes. If you haven't yet created department structures and staff group codes on e-KSF, then it may be worth considering holding off on this activity until after any organisational changes have happened. |
